Old Articles. Outdated Ideas. New Beginnings.

Greetings!

Earlier this year, I had written a few pieces for a soon-to-be defunct Star Wars fan site called "Far Far Away News." I won't be linking to them, nor will I go too deeply into the details of the nonsense there, as it can be found easily on Twitter, and of which I had only become aware yesterday. I stopped writing for the site in March, when Covid-19 took over everything and I needed (and still need) to focus on other things in my life. I'd had tentative plans to go back as a guest writer later this year, but that will absolutely not be happening. I will only say that we are in a pivotal moment in history: we have a tyrannical "leader" in the White House exposing a pre-existing system of corruption and greed in which We The People are mere "human capital stock"; we are in a pandemic that can potentially kill millions, and which is being horribly mismanaged by the ones we've elected to handle things of this magnitude, who prefer to write blank checks for the corporations with our money while we get a mere pittance to survive on; and, racial injustices and a widespread system of police brutality have gained more awareness among people all around the world. There is only one side to be on in this moment. I have no wish to associate myself with those who can't recognize which side that is.

Therefore, I've severed all ties with FFAN and now feel it prudent to post the work I did for them here in the next few days. Blogger will likely safeguard their files longer than I will mine, so they are safer here (and though I'm not looking nor hoping for a following, someone out there might enjoy finding and reading them still. In the likely event the aforementioned site ceases to be, I want the pieces to still be findable).

I may or may not add more to this blog as time goes on, as the mood strikes me and as time and circumstance allow. Literally everything is up in the air at the moment. I can't plan next week much less next year.

The title of this blog is a reference to Star Wars Galaxies, one of the best MMORPGs made, a one of a kind experience in gaming not likely to be repeated (outside of the emulators like SWGEmu). Teräs Käsi is a fighting style seen in Star Wars games, books, and now Solo: A Star Wars Story. It's the class I played in SWG, along with Creature Handler (think: Pokémon in space). The URL of the blog is the name of a drink chefs could make in SWG (and since I practically live on Tatooine, and my white ass can all but get a sunburn through a wall here, it seemed fitting). There were some good times in that game, but all things come to an end, good and bad. One can only hope for new (and good) beginnings.

Last but not least, many of the writers from FFAN went on to form another site from which to share their love for Star Wars with the fandom, called What's New on Jakku. Go check them out. I wish them success!

May the Force be with you 💛
